Every Labor Day weekend, the city of Colorado Springs has a balloon festival. This goes back to the 1970s, and while the organizers and participants may change, the show must go on.
In 2015, it was called the Colorado Springs Balloon Liftoff, but it was basically the same as in previous years. Every morning for four days in a row, the balloons inflate and take off with passengers. It is a scene, man. Also, I have a page for the parachuting demonstrations by the Air Force Academy Wings of Blue here, and a page for the evening Balloon Glow here.
These pictures were taken on the morning of 5 September 2015. It was a clear morning with a bit of overcast as the morning went along. The balloons all got off in good order, and much merriment was had by all.
Some of the balloons performed touch-and-goes in the lake. |
